Volunteer

How to get involved?

ACR runs one hundred percent on our volunteers and we couldn’t do it without their help! We are always on the lookout for dependable, hard working cat people to help with a variety of tasks from nightly feeding, to foster parenting or to TNR and rescue! Whether you can volunteer a few times a month, or only occasionally as your schedule permits, your help will be greatly appreciated. Volunteering with ACR is rewarding and fun. We hope you’ll consider joining our dedicated and committed family of cat lovers!

Feeding (2)

Feeding

Takes place every night regardless of how bad the weather is. The first step starts with the shopping. Next, we rely on our volunteers to help prepare food, which can mean scooping out over 100 cans of wet food and preparing small bags of dry food for all the colonies. Then it gets bundled into bags and loaded into the car for delivery. We are always seeking
new people to help with feeding! Please consider donating any time you can spare to help us feed.

Fostering

Is caring for a rescued cat in your home until a permanent adopter is found. There are so many cats in Astoria that need our help. When a cat is rescued off the street, our foster parents take these cats in, care for them, get them healthy and shower them with love, until a forever home can be found. You don’t have to be an expert to foster with us, all you need is a safe home, a willingness to learn and a love of cats. We will help you with the rest!

Fundraising

Do you love to plan and organize? Then you can
help us FUN-raise! There are so many fun ways to fundraise these days! Help us partner with a local restaurant for a cat charity night, work with Astoria businesses to place a donation jar, start a cat food drive in your child's school, or plan an art show where the art sold raises money for our medical expenses! We are looking for great creative folks to help us get great ideas like these off the ground.

Meow Ways to Volunteer

Have more time to donate and really want to make a difference? Become an adoption/foster counselor. This entails reviewing applications and interviewing people to see if they are a good match for our kitties. Maybe you’re an experienced writer? We need people to assist with uploading photos and creating write-ups for our available cats on our google sheets. There are no limits to the ways good people can get involved that really want to make a difference.

Your time does make a difference
